Teacher Appreciaton Week

Today kicks off showering our teachers with love. Today we are supposed to bring a card (see? Natalie has 2 teachers. Can you imagine corralling 12 three year olds alone? I think not.) and a flower from our garden. Uh-oh. My flower choices are as follows: Candy Tuft, one of my 3 Tulips, Heather, or Dandelions. I don't really want to pick one of my pathetic tulips, but they also look silly since I only have 3. And I think it would be a slap in the face to send in a bouquet of Dandelions. Because that's only cute when your own child brings you a dandelion. We'll see what the kids choose, I suppose.

Here's what a idiot I am (though I thought it was a cute, innocent idiot move). I spelled Dandelion (until spell checker) DandYlion. You know like a dandy - lion. Cute, right? Not stupid at all. No, not stupid at all.

Quatro de Mayo

We decided to head out to dinner tonight instead of fighting the crowds of college students (and county folk) who wanted to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. We stopped at REI to get a new BPA free water bottle (I got another Camelback bottle with a sippy thing, the SIGG looked like too much work to get a drink).

Then over to Espinoza's. I haven't been there since Brady was a baby! And Lar and I each got a margarita. He gets his lime on the rocks, and I always go for something fruity and blended. What we got was icy tequila! Holy crap, those were some heavy handed drinks! Larry swears they ran out of triple sec or something, and the only lime in his drink was the garnish! They weren't poorly made, just very, very potent. I feel fine (I couldn't even finish all of mine) and Larry had 2. He's in bed already.

There are only 3 problems with Fats and Molly. And it's mostly Fats (the pug). He was on the bed with me this morning cuddling, then he walked over and "marked" Larry's pillow. If you want to piss me off, go ahead and pee on my bed. So we are short a pillow and a case now (at least it was a spare case already). And he didn't get it anywhere else, and he didn't get much out because I almost threw him against the window I yanked him off the bed so fast. Another one of his other problem is that he has little dog syndrome. He won't cross thresholds or go downstairs. The downstairs thing is fine, but the threshold thing is a nuisance. It makes me wonder if he as a depth perception problem. Then there is the humping. He is constantly mounting Molly anytime there is affection given to her. I thought I'd have them longer because I was going to "cure" Fats of humping Molly, but it just won't happen in 3 days. That was going to be my gift to Montross for his birthday. But he's going to get the same humping dog back. Hey, I was a girl scout; we were taught to always leave things nicer than you found them. Maybe I'll give the pups a good bath tomorrow. That'll do.

Our House guests

I just found out I only get them until Tuesday. Oh. I thought I'd get a week or so. I might go on the lam. Make for a warmer climate until the heat dies down. Yeah.

Brady and Fat Boy (Fats). He's a little nervous of our stairs.

Anyway, even though it hinders my escape to post photos of my soon-to-be-hostages, I can' help myself. Their faces. And I LOVE it when bulldogs (and any other dog that does it) lies down with their hind legs behind them.

Here comes Molly!

Would you look at that rump!

Can't find my camera

If I could, you would see pictures of us at Cops on Shops today. While Tracy stood on the roof of Krispy Kreme in the rain today (and Janet too!), we sat inside and munched on a donut and sipped coffee.

Every year Janet (Anacortes P.D.) organizes the fundraisers for the Special Olympics, which includes Tip-a-Cop at Red Robin, and the Cops on Shops. The donut fundraiser is fun, because a lot of local athletes come and help the officers collect money for their equipment and operating costs. Natalie bonded with one athlete in particular, and it was fun to watch the two of them interact. It seems like a thankless job that Janet does, and the proceeds aren't as large as other fundraising programs, but what she commits to these athletes and her community is a testament to her dedication as an officer. She truly cares about her community. And Brady secretly loves her. 1. Because she is in uniform (he wore his too) and 2. She lets him inspect her patrol car every year.

So we had to head down there and show our support for the Special Olympics, and the poor dispatchers and officers that were sitting in the rain on the roof of a donut shop.

And... I picked up Fats and Molly tonight. Munch's dogs. He said they were settled for the night at his house, but I couldn't resist grabbing them. I might not give them back. As soon as I find the damn camera, this blog may become a shrine to a little pug and bulldog. Oh, got to go, Molly needs me. tee-hee!

Too much orange?

So tell me. Because I'm not totally sold on this template. But I want to deviate from the standard blog look. My myspace page is Wonder Woman, so I figure this is pretty tame. But I don't know about having to read the blog in orange type. And I'm not smart enough to change the font color without a lot of headache.

On a side note, I used my new Big Bite to impress my mom by punching a hole through half of my new Country Living magazine. She was very impressed.

Retail therapy

Once I get the idea in my head that I need a haircut/color, it must be done NOW. So I made an appointment to do just that today. I took the day off of work and got a babysitter even to make sure I wouldn't be rushed. When I get there though, I find out that my stylist's muffler fell off of her car and she needs to reschedule. I got pissy, because I had my heart set on having my hair cut today. And I'm missing work and paying someone to watch Natalie to boot. So I sulked out of the salon and drove over to Treasury of Memories. And that helped because they had the new tool front and center that I had been eyeing in a magazine. The Big Bite Crop-a-dile. So I can punch holes in the middle of my scrapbook pages.

Feeling a little better, but not quite so I headed over to Hardware Sales to complete a task that would be a nightmare with children. That store stresses me out the second I walk in there. Then I went and leisurely wandered each aisle at Trader Joes. Retail therapy complete. As I was leaving, Larry calls (it's 12:40 and he leaves for work at 12:30). The babysitter didn't show up. So I guess I lucked out that I didn't get my haircut today. I did get to enjoy a quiet lunch with Natalie that I hadn't anticipated today. She's pretty nice company. I hope my babysitter's OK.

Now we have to go get Brady. His teacher took his class to the bowling alley for their end-of-year celebration. She figured that the 6 boys that make up the class would much rather go bowling than to sit for an hour and a half at Mon-Art. Smart lady.

Brady commented this morning that a particular classmate is "weird". I kind of said something about how people have different personalities and adjust to groups differently. But the truth is, I agree with Brady. Only 3 more weeks of school and summer will have officially started for the Allred family!

Too late

I just read in another blog, that she found Good n Fruity's at Michaels. So I've been waiting for the time that I would be over that way to go buy a bazillion boxes of them. Good n Plenty's make me gag. But Good n Fruity's? Oh, yeah. I haven't had them since high school. They used to sell them in the student store. But today, she said she got the last box of 'em. Crap.

But... I did get 2 appointments made today, moved my bookcase, showered myself and bathed both kids, and now we are heading out to meet Munch, and then up to Lynden to run a couple of errands and say hi to Brooke, I hope. And I need to get to the bank today somehow. And I need to get to Super Supplements to find a fancy type of calcium, some Fish oil, and some liquid iron (gag). And we have no food in the house, so I have to figure something out there too.

I hear laundry load #3 beeping at me. Of to unload and fold before we go!
